| Welcome to AusLatin Productions
- Get ready to Surrender to the Rhythm!
Dance is all about expression, passion and the music, and we are
very connected to the music ourselves and hope to share this with
you, however we understand that not everyone was born into a culture
where dance and music is as pronounced in the latin american and
caribbean cultures. We therefore construct our classes in such a
way as to take you through slowly so that you feel confident that
you're getting somewhere and feel encouraged to dance socially,
which is after all the aim of the exercise!
No matter how many left feet you think you have, we know you can
dance if you're shown properly, given enough encouragement and time
to assimilate and practice, so never fear, if you can walk, you
can dance!
Whether you'd just like to be able to have an occasional social
dance or you have ambitions of becoming the next World Salsa Champion,
we can take you the distance, with experienced Instructors at the
helm who are internationally trained with over 20 years of teaching
behind them.
Our syllabus is internationally recognized and our senior instructors
have been trainers of several of Sydney’s internationally
recognized professionals.
We hope that you will enjoy learning with us - we honestly do enjoy
teaching and get a great deal of pleasure from seeing you improve,
especially when you think you haven't, and we can show you how far
you've come!
We conduct a regular TIMETABLE of Salsa and Mambo Shines Dance
lessons running in courses concurrent with NSW school terms in community
centres in Hornsby, Pennant Hills and Castle Hill
Our preferred style of Salsa is New York Style Salsa also known
as Salsa On2 or Mambo dance.
As we have discovered that the transition from Salsa On2 to Salsa
On1 is FAR simpler than from Salsa On1 to Salsa On2, so our classes
are taught using the Salsa On2 style. In level 3 we teach you how
to quickly and painlessly convert your Salsa On2 into Salsa On 1,
making you a competent 'bi-dancual' Salsa dancer, enabling them
to enjoy a wide variety of social Salsa dance partners.
Our Salsa syllabus is constructed with a base of fundamentals that
will take 2 levels to complete (level 2 consisting of 2 sub levels).
This includes the fundamental steps, the lead and follow techniques
and basic body movements which will make your dancing smoother and
more stylish.
In our third level which is an open level, we teach combinations,
using and building on the fundamentals, until you can actually create
your own very effective steps and become quite proficient.
Your goal should be to able to dance with just about anyone that
you meet anywhere in the world, so we recommend that you become
proficient in at least the two main linear style so popular worldwide.
We also run Mambo Shines classes which are effectively dancercise
classes, based on the use of the fundamentals of New York Style
Salsa also known as Mambo.
We teach you the rudiments of Salsa/Mambo basic steps, rhythm and
timing and basic elements of body movement and expression that can
combine to make simple ‘Mambo Shines’
Each element and combination is given a name and the idea is to
‘play a game’ to Salsa music, moving from one combination
to another as called by the instructor, always resolving into the
fundamentals.
The combinations are simple to learn and fun to do and you may work
to your own level of fitness and expertise at all times
All of the material taught in this class is directly transferable
into Salsa of all styles and rhythms.
Private lessons are available to fast track one's progress within
Salsa dance, or to learn other styles of Latin dance including:-
Mambo, Salsa On1, Millenium Style Salsa, Cuban Salsa, Cha Cha, Bachata
and Merengue amongst others.
Special Workshops are held periodically to cover aspects of Salsa
/ Mambo dance for which there has been insufficient time to cover
during regular classes e.g. Ladies's Styling, additional men's leading
techniques and styling, shines, music appreciation and transposing
from Salsa On2 to Salsa On1 or Cuban Salsa.
Periodically we also hold general mixed latin dance workshops to
familiarise students with other latin dances like Merengue, Bachata,
Cha cha cha, Samba and Zouk Lambada and Tango.
